Irene is currently working on a personal body of work, using oil and mixed media. She is using the environment as a major source of influence, skies and the sea of Great Britain being major points of interest. Irene's work over recent years has explored the narrative qualities of fused and stained glass using both modern and traditional techniques.
In 2015, she successfully exhibited a piece of glass in a garden at Chelsea Flower Show, entitled The Evaders Garden. This piece is now permanently on view at Astley Hall, Chorley. Much of this earlier work was commissioned by private individuals.
